Randy Wisener has been selected for induction into the Garland Sports Hall of Fame in recognition of his outstanding accomplishments as captain of the golf teams for Garland High School during his junior and senior years. The Owls defeated a strong Highland Park team in the district tournament and qualified for the regional tournament, in which Wisener finished individually as the 3rd medalist. The same summer he was chosen for the junior golf team of the Northern Texas P-G-A which defeated the Southern Texas P-G-A at Pecan Valley in San Antonio. Following his graduation he qualified for the Unites States Golf Association of Amateur Championship at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs, shooting 74-74 for a total of 148 in the sectional qualifying round. Wisener posted the fourth best score in competition for the Dallas area team that traveled to Whittier, California for the U-S-G-A National Junior Golf Championship. After high school, Wisener played collegiate golf at East Texas State University and North Texas State University. After graduation from North Texas and prior to attending law school, Wisener coached the golf team at North Garland High School, leading the Raiders to their first district championship in that school’s history. Wisener continued to play competitive golf through the 1970’s and early 1980’s, winning club championships at Garland’s Eastern Hills Country Club in stroke play, match play, and four-ball play several times. Randy Wisener had his wife, Barbara, have three children, Atticus, Miranda Sutin and Dustin.
